Agra is home to India’s prime tourist site, the magnificent Taj Mahal.

Agra was the Mughul capital of India for a very long time. Its present-day fame is, justly, derived from the Taj Mahal, about which books have been written, much more scholarly than I ever could achieve myself. So just enjoy the photos.

If you do go and visit, don’t forget the many other buildings around the complex, and in Agra, including the tomb of Akhbar the Great. And beware that you have to take off your shoes before entering the Taj… like everybody else who has been sweating in their shoes for the past couple of hours!
