The Prambaban temple complex invites extensive exploration, wandering from one set of buildings to the next.

The second-most important temple complex in Indonesia is Prambanam, in fact a more extensive complex than Borobudur, and also somewhat more impressive, in that from a distance you get a good view of the many tall and steep temples (whereas in Borobudur, it is difficult to appreciate the size of the single stupa once you stand in front of it). Also 8th or 9th Century, Prambanan is in fact a Hindu complex, although for the unsuspecting tourist, much of the bas-reliefs, for instance, look very similar.
