Somewhat run-down Karo Batak villages south of Berestagi
I visited several of the Karo villages around Berestagi, Gurusinga and Linggatula amongst them. Not much to say about these places, except that many of the traditional houses, Rumah Adats – the reason I came here – are in a state of disrepair. Having said so, the traditional architecture is still being used, for instance in the new market building of Linggatula. Villagers are equally photogenic, and more colourful than the houses.
