early visit to Croatia

Our first visit to Croatia was just after the secession war with rump-Yugoslavia at the time, in 1996. In fact we flew to Ljubljana in Slovenia, traveled by train to Zagreb, and with a rented cat to Istria and along the coast southwards, ending up in Dubrovnik. Not a lot of text, and scanned slides for photographs, but it will give you an interesting view of a country that has since then explosively developed its tourist appeal. See the entry here.

Former Yugoslavia blog

Almost twenty years later, in Autumn 2024, we returned, as part of our exploration of the Former Yugoslavia. The Croatian entries to the blog are divided between the beginning, when we drove through Zagreb and the north of the coutry to Serbia, and at the end, after we had left Montenegro and Bosnia & Hercegovina, on our way home. This time more text, and many more pictures. Access the blog here.
