Perhaps the least visited of the regions included in this website. It is not that we are not interested, but terrorist, rebel and gang activities – if you can distinguish at all between the three – makes travel rather more complicated. Which is why Democratic Republic of Congo is included, even though I have never been there. We did do an overland journey with a group from Chad to Sierra Leone (excluding Nigeria, for which we didn’t get a visa), and to enjoy the relative comfort of The Gambia. And we’ll probably go back one day, to see more of this region.
