Even though I have been working on the site for almost fifteen years now, it is still very much work in progress. Here you’ll find what’s new on theonearmedcarb.com (and when I added it).
- In September 2026 I switched to a new theme for the site, so it will look different from what you were used to. This was necessary because the one I was using was old, and was no longer supported by newer software versions. The full switch over will take a little longer, as there are quite a few manual adjustments, especially in internal links, that have to be implemented.
- Long avoided, because it didn’t fit in the ‘adventurous’ travel content that this site aspires to provide, I have nevertheless created entries on some Wesern European experiences. In July 2026 we were in Paris, in France, where we spent half a day in the business district La Defense, and in August 2026 we spent a few days in the Ruhrgebiet in Germany admiring the industrial heritage and associated landart. - Whilst editing various older blogs, I also added an excursion to Cuba to the site, mostly a photographic impression, from our trip in 2001 (June 2026).
- It took longer than normal, but I finally completed the Yucatan blog, about our February 2024 trip to the Mayan archaeological sites in Yucatan, Mexico, and our subsequent visit to Mexico City and its murals (June 2026).
- Another short trip brought us, once again in the company of a small group, to Turkmenistan, in March 2026. The blog is the same as the country page (April 2026).
- We returned to South America in December 2025, where we travelled for two weeks in Southern Chile, and kept a blog (Dec. 2025).
- On a whim we went to Bangladesh and Northeast India, in Spring 2025, for which to can access the blog, which is in two parts, here – Bangladesh/NE India – (May 2025), which was also added to the India page and to the newly created Bangladesh page (October 2025).
- In the Autumn of 2024 we travelled through most of former Yugoslavia, including a short return visit to Albania. There is an extensive blog, and there are the country pages of Bosnia-Hercegovina, Croatia (updated), Kosovo, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia (Dec 2024 to Oct 2025).
- In June 2024 I spent a week in Syria, in the company of a small group, and I kept the Syria blog of my experiences – this was before the overthrow of the regime (June 2024). The blog is the same as the country page.
- The museum visits prompted me to arrange the many museum and sculpture park entries of the last years, whether during trips or as stand-alone experiences. You can now find all of this back on the Gallery page under The Arts, where a further subdivision has been made in Museum in The Netherlands, European Museums, Latino-American art museums, and Ethnological and Archaeological Museums worldwide (February 2024).
- Visiting some museums in The Netherlands, I added two entries on art exhibitions, one of Anselm Kiefer in Museum Voorlinden an another of East German artists from before and after the fall of the Berlin wall, called ‘Die Uberraschung’ in Museum No Hero (January 2024).
- Our trip to Finland and the Baltic States in September/October 2023 led to the Baltics blog, and to country pages for Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as for Poland (one entry only, Gdansk) (December 2023)
- The diary I kept before and during our West Africa expedition of March/April 2023, and the associated country pages for Chad, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia and Sierra Leone, as well as Gambia (May 2023).
