Albanian Memories: Our Albanian experiences are thirty years apart. We first arrived in Albania in 1995, just a few years after the communist regime had fallen, and ultra-capitalism had taken over. We lived in the capital, Tirana, for some two years, and we had the opportunity to travel most of the country, despite the rapid changes still largely unspoilt. Back to Tirana: Thirty years later, in 2024, we made a trip through the former Yugoslavia, and of course couldn’t resist the opportunity to also add Albania to the itinerary, only Tirana, to see what had become of this ultra-capitalism.
