many of the people at the Aolyang Festival in Longwa are perfectly happy to be photographed, which makes for a great series of portraits
The Aolyang Festival in Longwa is not a festival for tourists, although there were a few, both international and from other parts of India. The people who celebrate do that for themselves, and they dress up in their traditional cloths, also for themselves, and for their community.
Notwithstanding, they are proud enough to not just allow, but even encourage outsiders to take their pictures. Quite a few are happy to pose for the camera; in fact, they frequently pose for their own camaras and telephones as well.
Of which I obviously made use, gratefully. A selection of the portraits, not to overwhelm the main entry on the festival.
there is more of this in Sheanghah Chingnyu
