There is generally nothing wrong with hotel accommodation is Kyrgystan, but inevitably, some will be better than others. We are not normally in the business of recommendations, but the Hotel Amir in Karakol deserves special mention. If you are traveling in the Issyk-Kul area at all, and you might as well when in Kyrgystan, to visit the Sunday cattle market, or the Przewalski Museum, or perhaps do some trekking in the nearby mountains, you are likely to spend a day or two, three in Karakol,. And you could do worse than pamper yourself in this exceedingly comfortable hotel. Nothing overly luxurious, but very pleasant people, excellent breakfast, and they cook for you at night, too, if you want. Good wifi, good showers, good hotel overall, and quite affordable.
