A market town at the cross-roads in Southern Ethiopia.

Karat-Konso – informally referred to as Konso but officially called Karat – is a major traffic hub, being located at the junction of roads to Arba Minch in the north, Yabello, and on to Kenya to the east and south-east, and the South Omo Valley to the west and south-west. However, in town one could be forgiven for not appreciating this importance. Karat-Konso is a fairly uninspiring affair, although on Mondays and Thursday there is a regional market, with its usual colourful adherents, in this case the Konso people.
