it doesn’t only look good….

There are lots of restaurants in Hanoi, lots of Vietnamese restaurants, too. In the short time we were there, we haven’t tried each and every one of them, of course not.

In fact, rather than testing yet another new restaurant, on our last evening we went back, for the second time, to Duong’s Restaurant, in a small street east of the Hoan Kiem Lake (address: 27 Ngõ Huyện, Hàng Trống, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội 100000). The food was that good! There is an á la carte menu with a decent amount of different dishes to choose from, including vegetarian dishes. And there are the set menus, two different ones; we tried both of them, and both were absolutely fabulous.

But not only the food is good, everything works well, in Duong’s Restaurant. The reception when you enter, the personal service; a little amuse, or a few, in fact; attentive waiters, friendly and funny, as well as knowledgeable about what is being served. It all makes for a very nice evening out. Highly recommended when in Hanoi!

The restaurant also has a second location, in the Old Town (address: 101 Mã Mây, Hàng Buồm, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội), and it organises daily cooking classes, for which we, in the end, didn’t have enough time. But I would certainly recommend trying them: what better than eating a great meal, and then learning how to reproduce that yourself later on?
